It probably did scratch since dirt is abrassive. But i would really doubt it would be to that extent. Your car keeps alot of dirt on the paint, especially after waxing. Claybar should do it. Worst case, polishing but i very much doubt it would scratch that bad.

Try washing it with a car washing kinda liquid, then claybar it. Afterwards use Scratch X, then follow it up with a polisher, then finish up with wax. It should make your car look a lot better. =P

I would make a suggestion, use a good rubbing compound, then re-wax it. Before you make a move on "wash me", find a good incon****ous spot on your car and try it first, a small patch, to ensure it doesnt damage you paint. Follow the directions on the product, carefully.

It probably jus seems like dirt, but there is, like everyone else is sayin, a good chance that it's scratch... my ex did the honor of wiping the side of my door with a dry paper towel when it was all dirty- I can still see where she wiped it.
