Taillight color change DIY

Sorry to bring back this thread to life.. But I got some old tails that were clear.. And I sprayed VHT red tint on it.. But now Im trying to remove the tint.. Acetone wont remove it..Any other suggestion? I really dont want to sand my tail lights... Thanks in advance..

I was able to get all mine off with just gasoline and hard scrubbing
