I am thinking about changing the tire size from 195/65/15 to 205/60/15 while keeping my SE rims. Anyone got this size? Do you like the size? I know the overall diameter is about 3% smaller which will result in shorter gear which is good, because I think my 5 speed is geared a lil too tall.

shorter gear? :eh:

it won't affect gearing all tht much... only thing tht will be different is tht ur speedometer might be a lil off, but nothing too crazy... 205/60/15 sounds like a decent size ;)

I love my 205/60R/15 Bridgestone Potenza RE950's. They handle better than my 215/??/17 Hankook's that we're on my wheels.

I'm a little confused. Wouldn't upgrading mean getting a wider tire to have more contact?

Well, 205 is wider than 195. But the profile (60) is still pretty tall which leads to a good amount of roll.

To really notice a difference you'll have to go up at least two sizes. I don't think a stock rim can hold a 215/55/15 But it maybe possible though

I have 205/60R15 Kumhos. They put a little more rubber on the road, but not much different because the rim is only 6" wide. If you did 205/60R15 on those 6.5" JDM rims Blkcrrnt was selling you would be able to maximize the contact patch.

I owned 205/55R15 Yokohama AVS ES 100's before. Those things had awesome crisp turn-in and sidewall stability and very good grip as long as it was over 55 degrees. Downsides were they only lasted about 13k miles. Got scary in the wet towards the end, and 55 series rubber will make your 15's look like 13's.
