Transmission sounds??? please help

I own a 2001 Accord with around 106,000mi. from what i have read our generation of Accords auto-tranny is pretty week and things tend to mess up in higher millage cars. recently when I put my car in Park or neutral the transmission makes kind of a whiney sound that is in unison with the cars idle speed. it does not make the sound in drive, or reverse when parked. however when rolling in reverse it makes a similar sound. I was thinking it may be a bearing but I really don't know that much about automatic transmissions

any ideas of what this may be?? or if you have had similar problems??

Have you checked the air intake/ivac? It could be a sound coming from that and not the transmission.

Thats what it was with mine so its defently worth a shot!

I checked it out today but the sound is coming from no where near the intake. the sound is actually louder inside the car than outside. its kinda hard to hear when standing up when the hood is popped but when i got underneath the car i could hear it clearly
