You won't be getting any kind of stretch out of those. 205 is what you should go with because you shouldn't even be trying to stretch a tire onto such a skinny rim.. But hey Vlad stretched some onto his 8's so why not throw on some 185/40's! :naughty:

Just wanted to know. I'll probably put some 205/45s on them. Need something to match the rears.

I'm actually going to take the 215/45s off the 8.5s in the rear and put them on the 7.5s for now and swap the 225/45s onto the 8.5s. I know that sounds crazy. PO put the 225s on the 7.5s and the 215s on the 8.5s. Idk why.

Wait.. Why are you down grading to 7.5?

Lol. I'm not. I picked up some Rota D2 17x7.5 fr 17x8.5 rear +20 all around. I was gonna take the 225s off the 7.5s and put them on the 8.5s and put the 215s on the 7.5s. That way I won't be rubbing up front.

So it's temporary until you need new tires again?

Lol. Yea. Wanted to do 215s or 205s up front. I don't know what the best combo would be. New to the whole fitment thing. Here's the specs

Front: 17x7.5 +20
Rear: 17x8.5 +20

Rears I'm thinking 215s or 225. Don't know on the fronts tho. I want a mild stretch. Plan to have little to no gap.

Alright fellas, I've read through about 20 pages of this thread but I'm not seeing what I'm looking for. I want to run a 17" wheel with a 245/40-17 or 235/45-17 M+S tire for next winter. What width wheel fits these tires the best (no stretching or ballooning), and what offset would put the sidewall almost flush with the fenders without sticking out?

Wheel width wise...
245mm=9.64567inch
235mm=9.25197

With that in mind i'd say 17x8 / 17x8.5. I'm no rim expert though so i'm sure the rest of people in here will chime in.
