It's been awhile since I've posted on here, only because I haven't been modifying for awhile. Planning to get married so all the money had to go there instead of my baby; however, I did get the set of rims I wanted...Lols...should be coming in soon...

Anyways, because of my swap and because of Canada's new law for emissions...(instead of a smoke test, they just stick in an OBDII and read the codes...); my car has been failing. It's reading a code saying that there's a communication error between the ECU and the engine, the vin number doesn't match (of course, since it's an Acura engine in a Honda...) ...I even tried under the table for the price of $500 for my emissions to pass; still failed because of the stupid new machines. Had my car been 1997 or under, would've been qualified to do the smoke test.

Now I'm stuck...how the hell do I put her on the road legally now -_- I refuse to sell her and let her go or give up now...o_O

Damn. What CEL’s are showing up? You may want to talk to Rich about them, he may know a workaround.

As for the VIN on the motor, kinda stuck there unless you remove the current VIN tag and replace it with a matching one. Did you scrap your stock motor?

Definitely agree about sorting this out, you’ve invested too in the car to let it go. Pointless emissions checks.

P0135 - 02 Sensor (which can be fixed easily)
P1656 - (communication error code) - this code isn't even in the honda or acura book...lol -_-'

I did scrap my stock motor...SIGH! didn't think of it at that time...pointless indeed...erghhh...if I was qualified for smoke test, it would pass with flying colors... =( sadness.

Fix the o2 sensor and then disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer. The P1656 code should go away, I remember my sister having one of those codes pop up on her Accord after doing an oil change. Disconnected the battery and nothing has appeared 1000 miles later.

I believe 1656 is an auto transaxle error code, which obviously means nothing since the car doesn’t have it anymore. Not sure if connecting the range switch could hide it during the inspection or not. Or maybe you can reset the ECU just before the inspection and it won’t show up, you’d have to test that to see how long it takes that code to show up consistently after resetting the ECU. If nothing else, ask Rich how to get rid of it. His modules are designed to avoid flashing any CEL’s so maybe something just needs adjusted. Or maybe there's another way.

I didn’t think of that either, we don’t have any kind of checks where I live. Maybe I should call Rich up and see if my motor was indeed transplanted to his old 6GA along with the auto haha. Anyway having a false VIN tag on the motor is surely illegal, but if you know someone who could fab one out of metal that looks just like the on on your J32…maybe you could get it away with it. I really don’t know if that's an option, that’s your call.

Maybe there’s some electronic device that might allow you to hide CEL’s…

Resetting the ECU will cause a Not ready monitor on the whole car, and makes it fail.
