Im finally ready to purchase a set of coils and got quoted 1300 for bc racing coilovers and install by Miami Best Wheels. I did a little research and found that the coils are 1000 which means there charging me about 300 to put them on. sound good to you? Wanted to run it by the good people of 6thgenaccord before i pull the trigger, thanks for the help :)

PS: i know a lot of people will suggest installing them myself. But im 16 and have little knowledge on suspension and no access to the neccesary tools, so maybe in the future :lawl:

$300 breaks down to $75 per corner, so that seems a little high. But then again if they figure they will spend an hour at each corner (removing, disassembling, reassembling, installing) and they charge $75 per labor hour, that's not a terrible rate.

But I'd save that $300 and buy yourself a 137pc Craftsman tool kit from Sears, a breaker bar, some PB Blaster, some grease, and rent a spring compressor from Autozone. Then you'll have cash left over to pay someone off to buy you a celebratory beer.

ehh, that's probably a fair price, youd probably have to pay an extra $50 if you did it yourself because of shipping. they're supposed to be pretty good coils, if you really cant do it yourself i dont see why not. must be $300 for like 3-4 hours of work, which is reasonable for coilover install but i but it can be done cheaper.

A friend of mine payed 50 a corner so 75 is a lil high. i may just go through with it considering im financing it over 4 months so in the end i wont mind having paid the extra 200 bucks. and the tools would be a good investment but considering this is my daily, ill feel good about it knowing they were installed professionally and our safe. thanks for chiming in :)

If you have friends with tools, ask them to help and repay them back with lunch and a few beers.

First time installing coilovers took me about 5hr's with a buddy of mine which we were inexperience as hell.

After that, I can install all 4 suspension components by myself in less than 2hrs with a few breaks. As what RedRyder said above, invest that $300 in some tools, it'll help you out in the long run.

Even carrying a 1/4-1/2 wrench, 8-10-12-14mm sockets, flathead, and a small vice grip alone in my car has saved me in a situation so many times.

I'm sure you can find someone to do it for cheaper. Hell, if you were closer to me, i'd install all 4 suspensions for you with 1/3 the price.

EDIT: You won't ever learn how to fix cars by just watching someone, it takes mistakes to learn how to correctly install your setups.

I completely agree with the tools being important. i probably will purchase atleast a basic set of tools to have when they come in handy on small things.

The only thing really in the way of me doing it is that my mom isnt down with it. she thinks i may mess up and itll be unsafe. considering she paid for 60% of the car im gonna have to listen. thanks for the input

honestly i understand you, i bought my accord which is my second car all with my money and my dad hates the fact i do so much crap to it, i have invested with my friends in soo many tools, low profile jack, impact wrench we recently just bought a air compressor so we can use air tools lol, might even do some light painting, honestly look up the thread for the install which i did, me and 3 friends one day started early at like 10 we was done by like 4pm. but if cars is really not your thing and you just want light things done then take it to any shop, those guys charging too much in my opinion. but like me, i want to learn as much as i can cause i really like putting work into my car and yeah ive made hell of mistakes but thats how you learn. and plus theres no better feeling than after you install something in your car and just stare at it and go ahhh :)
