And I wasn't even about to start job with, "Oh, hey, by the way, I know I haven't even started working here yet but I'm already gonna need days off..."

This can actually work two ways, when starting a new job it may be easier to let them know up front that you already have obligations you need time off for, rather than going to them a week or two after you’re hired and asking for that time off. My brother-in-law got a new job right before he got married and told the employer that he was getting hitched and that their honeymoon was already reserved and would last 2 weeks. It was a non-issue.

The only thing I can do is ask for it off. I can tell you right now that the reason of needing a Friday and/or Saturday off to attend a car meet, will NOT fly with my boss. So I need to work on one of those "really cant miss" excuses. Still doesn't mean my boss will allow it.

What kind of job is it? What is your maximum allotment of vacation days? Have you already used them all?

No PTO for a year. I've been there right at 60 days. I got my trip to Florida off because I said I was the best man in my brother's wedding. That wasn't a complete lie but had I been honest, I probably wouldn't have gotten the days off. What surprised me wasn't that I got the days off, it was that I got a Thursday, Friday AND Saturday off after being told no one gets those days off in that order like that.

I cant reiterate, again, how much easier this would've been (for everyone, am I right??) if this were on a Sunday. Lol. The fact that I work T-Sat means I need, at the minimum, Saturday off. And that means red-eyeing the drive to TN the minute I get off work Friday night, catching a few hours of sleep then making the meet. It's not impossible, but its definitely not the best option Id like to go with, lol. However, the likelihood of me getting just the one day off is better than getting it and Friday off. Granted I can come up with a legit reason...

Your in the same situation I'm in. I had a good amount of time stacked up, that I was gonna use for the Memphis meet. But, Since I was recently converted to a permanent position, all my time gets taken away and I start over.

So far things are looking up for you man!

I would go with. My wife or girlfriend has been in love with ducks and she really wants to visit the Ducks at the Peabody hotel in Memphis before they go away for the winter. She's a duck lover and I kind of promised her we would go this year.
You could always go with a relative is traveling cross country and you haven't seen them in ....years and you are meeting them half way.

That's all I got. You gotta make it.
Job ✅
Car is still running✅
Get off from work✅
Drive to Memphis✅

Agreed. If I were with a company and accrued PTO and then moved positions and they ****ed me; Id tell them to cram it in their cramhole.

Yeah, I thought it was dumb.
