My CEL came on today....

... and now it is off again. I pulled out into traffic today and my car started to spin a little so I stood on it and shifted to second. My CEL came on immediately but my car ran fine. I got to work and pretty much forgot about the light until about 4:30. I talked to a tech at work and he said bring the car into the shop and he would read and reset the CEL. It was a 420 code I think he said and to let him know if it comes back on. I hope it doesn't come back just yet because I will be taking my car in for a timing belt change soon. I love working at an Acura dealership.

Oh yeah the 420 is catalytic failure code

prob need a new cat... i had the same prob a couple months back, but it was fixed for free under the "80K miles/8 yr" emissions warranty... i had 78K miles

yep, new cat time. your cel will come on and go off randomly. i got mine replaced for free at 126k in 06 and my cars a 98 whats your mileage at? if its over 80k, "gut it out and let your car bitch" LOL.

I gutted mine out and cant stand that fukin resonating sound!!

I gutted mine, feels like it pulls harder up top, don't mind the sound. Car is a tad louder though, gonna replace entire exhaust soon anyways. New header/cat/catback.

Mine came on too, with the same code, I have 35k on an 01...I'm the 3rd owner, but that doesn't matter does it? Its covered then right?

call some local junkyards and see if they have any for a 4banger 6th gen.

You can gut and do a mechanical o2 simulator to stop the code from pulling. I noticed a decrease in gas mileage when I got my P0420 code and this fixed it.
