Hello, my name is Alex and I just joined this Amazing forum. I was really tired of H-T and I finally found some good info here. I've had a couple of cars in my 5 years of driving. I had Mazda 626, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Celica and now I drive a 93 Civic HB, which I really hate because its bumpy noisy and just uncomfortable to ride in. I did lots of research and it seems that 2000 Accord LX/EX 4cil 5spd Coupe would fit me very nice. There is a couple of things I would like to know thought.
1) Is there something I should be looking for when buying an Accord? (I know of some problems like V6auto/Rear ball bearings/Fender clips/ but is there anything else?
2) How is the ride, I am looking for a commuting car. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought my Civic, it was fun and all during summer but once it got to winter month (Upstate NY) going 55mph on snowy highway feeling every single bump and listening to that tiny 1.5L engine rev its balls out wasn't too pleasant. So in other words, is Accord comfy and quiet?
3) Do quarter panels rust like they did in previous accords?

I spent a year researching, on what car will fit me best. By the end I had a couple of cars in mind. Accord Coupe, Acura Integra, Acura RSX, 01 Honda Civic coupe, Toyota Celica. I think I made the right choice and went with Accord, last week I gave my dealer friend a deposit so he can start looking for a nice Accord Coupe for me when he is at the Car Auctions.

Thank you.

def get a 4 cyl 5speed....the autos all go bad, v6 OR i4

theres nothing really to worry about all that much. except for not having the 2 extra doors that the sedans have. youll lower your human status with only a 2 door :D hahahaha

the ride, stock, is nice i guess. too cushy for me tho, even if i was to leave it stock.

as for the quarter panels, yea, they can rust. mine have started, but just look for it before you buy

and welcome to the site :)

i drive mine in northern idaho winters, up and down 7% grades once a month and its been my DD the whole time. Its a wonderful ride, smooth, simple, rather responsive (steering) there isn't much power in the i4 but if you throw on 4 studded tires you'll have no problem hooking up and getting out into traffic

defenetly go with the ex v6 man... it's accord(reliable) feels like a BMW(a little bit) looks nice... very smooth(eventhough trans go bad after a while but is ok just pay around $3000 to honda dealer to rebuildit for u)... dont forget the 6 cd changer... and the traction control(you can go crazy with it... LOL... I did...) and last... its like 200whp and you can rev up like crazy...

the only bad thing is.... IT HAS NO 6SPD.... why is honda so cruel?????
why.... why.... why no 6spd...

4cyl, 5-spd, without a doubt. Better mileage, more fun, and maybe slightly better handling with less weight on the front wheels.

Keep the stock rims for winter tires, and then get something nice with summer rubber. Screw all-seasons.

See if you can find out from a previous owner when the timing belt was done, if ever.

And welcome!

I think it's great for a commuter car. It's comfortable and gets decent mileage. However, around town, my mileage sucks. The ride is much better than a hatch, it's a bit soft on the I4 (v6's seem slightly stiffer) but defineatly not as uncomfortable at all. The I4 lacks some power, it's my 3rd 4 banger accord 5spd and the extra weight it has gain hasn't been compensated for that well but it's fine, it's just not going to be fast at all. An H22 swap will wake it up if you want to go further in the future though and has been done many times.

v6? reliable? not with that transmission, haha.

and 200whp? ahahahahahahahahahaa you wish. its 200hp to the CRANK stock. going thru that autotragic its more like 175-180whp....maybe.

the v6 has the autotragic and is thefore not reliable :fail:

quoted for truth.
