if your buddy who does your oil changes is an actual mechanic, not just an average joe, he should be able to figure it out lol. otherwise your probably better off just bringing it to a dealership and getting an estimate. hopefully its just some lil thing like a bad drain bolt washer. I know that sounds stupid but I know a lotta dumbasses who change their oil and dont put on a new washer and end up leaking oil. BUT if he changed your filter too, then it probably came with a new washer (dono about the cheap aftermarket filters, but i know all the honda OEM filters do)

That a lot of oil to leak because of a drain bolt washer. Honestly, I haven't ever changed that washer on any of my cars and they don't leak.

Yeah drain bolt washer is not a problem in this case...:fail: you would notice it dripping off the bottom of the pan if that was the case, especially since he he had the car on a lift... i have never ever changed my washer and have had no problems what so ever on either of my cars...

Most likely an internal problems with sleeves or rings, but i am saying rings before sleeves...

Edit: Sorry, 99F23VTech, I was typing when you put up your reply.

He said earlier his buddy put it on a lift and saw no leaks. Unless there's a bunch of smoke coming out of the exhaust it sounds like it's time to for a ring job.

I appreciate all of your help. theres no real smoking going on that i can see during idle or acceleration. and yes my buddy is a real mechanic, and the lift is in his back yard (lucky-***!). and he said the ring on the washer wasnt necessary so he didnt put one on. said he hasnt used one on his acura in years. he checked to see if the coolant and oil were mixing on either end, and they werent. he said hes gonna do a compression test for me to try and see whats going on. and the engine bay is clean as can be. no oil coming from the top end. i'll keep you guys posted on what he finds if anything after the weekend.

x2. Comp test will tell you if it's the rings, leak down test will tell you if it's the gasket.

Yeah, well, I dono ytf anyone wouldn't bother changing the washer when you do an oil change, seeing how the filter comes with a new one. They're called "crush" washers for a reason and they're only meant to be used once. I guess your lucky, or your cranking your drain bolt to like 150ftlbs, if you're reusing them without any leaks. I reused one ONCE and it leaked everywhere I went.

Er... only the Honda filter comes with the washer? I buy Mobil1 and it doesn't come with one.

I should get a torque reading on the bolt next time though. I dont' think it's any tighter than what someone would classify as "tight enough"

I don't think I even have the original drain bolt.... is everyone else's a 13mm?
