So I took some leave to get a breather from the wife this week and went back to my hometown to hang out with some friends. After a fun evening of drinking and conversation I merged onto the interstate to head for the house. When easing on it in fourth gear i punched it, and my transmission just went boom. Three hours later and 34 miles in a flatbed, I get the car in my dad's workshop to find my stock differential decided to **** the bed, only one day before I was going to tune, and two days before going to the drag strip...

Looks like the shaft holding the spider gears sheared clean off somehow, and the debris exited through the rear of the clutch housing. Still not sure what caused this. All the gears/synchros/shafts are unharmed. The same cannot be said for the clutch housing and the diff. The other two spider gears and the shaft are MIA, and presumably KIA.

Good news: New h23 trans is going in tomorrow morning. That's about it. :(

If one more thing in my life ****s up, I swear I'm going to off myself.

Damn man that sucks. Looks like some carnage there. Atleast you've got another one to put in.

better now than on the way to the track/ON the track itself...

interesting the gears werent harmed at all compared to the hole in the housing...

Everything was contained 'below' the differential gear. I'm somewhat relieved about that.

:eh:

but damn jason, that sucks dude. at least you have another tranny to put in tho, so you can still drive the car.

I'm just lucky I have friends up here who are honda fanatics. They're all civic/integra whores, but one actually had an H23 trans that is disassembled, so I picked it up from him for cheap and gonna rebuild it in the morning.
