turn the key to "on" and listen to see if you hear the fuel pump turning on. Then check the fuel filter. Then check for spark. Hopefully somewhere in there you'll get an answer.

Well if it does not click there is a good chance it is just bad starter solenoid. The contact disc may be stuck open or perhaps the pull-winding in the solenoid is shorted or open. You can rebuild one, they are VERY easy to assemble or you can just buy a whole starter.

However, it sounds like your diagnostic skills are not the best (no offense) so maybe you should have it taken to a shop. If you think that you are proficient enough I can explain what to test to you. I have the OEM service manual as well as access to Alldata. Let me know and hope this helps!!

what should the fuel pump sound like when it turns on? didn't know you could hear it turn on.

just have your door open and listen under the car as best you can. when you turn the key to on, if you hear anything from under there, then it works. try it every 30 seconds or so for a few times. Hard to explain what it sounds like but it will be the only sound you hear.

maybe you bumped a wire harness while trying to get the old filter off. i know that if a few sensors aren't hooked up then the car won't turn over. look around that area just for ****s and giggles. O2 sensor is a possibility.
