So I have a new lip. A better one than the first in fact, because this one I could actually get onto the car correctly.
I had one hell of a time trying to get this on both sides of the car. I had to use a heat gun on the passenger side of the lip so I could stretch it around to bolt it. It did seem to warp the plastic though, so tomorrow morning I'm going to get my heat gun out and start molding it so its flat again. I also need to put one more self tapping screw on the passenger side bottom to lift the bottom of that side more upwards so its going across straight. I had just finished before dark so I only have a few daytime pics and a couple ones I took from the garage after dinner. I'll be sure to take more daytime pics from different angles tomorrow.
I think I'm making good progress and what I'm hoping is when I sand, prime, paint, and clear coat this thing...no one's going to notice anything!
so you can see from this how the driver's side is completely flush:
but with the passenger side, its a little warped:
again, driver side:
and passenger side:
Anyway, the sooner I fix the lip the sooner I can paint it, and hopefully cover up any mistakes I made!
Okay so after working on it in like 90 degree BS for two hours this afternoon I think I'm ready to get it painted tomorrow afternoon.
Here's my results with a heatgun and a couple of other shots:
I need to put one more coat of paint on in the morning and the clear coat, but basically...I'm finally done with the lip!
