Not sure what an auto shift kit would do on a Honda, but I know on my Neon I had a reverse manual valve body with the line pressures turned up. The kit actually made it so I could shift the automatic transmission manually. The car would rev higher and I could hold it in gear as long as I wanted.

Is it possible to up the transmission line pressures on Accords to lessen shift time? I have a feeling that the Auto trannies lifes could be extended if this was done.

not bad....but needs to be looked in to more.

uh what? no, it doesnt need to be looked into. its no secret that the autos for 6g's are crap. you could either send your auto to dr evil, if theyre even still around, and they can build it a little tougher for you, but it will eventually still die. or you could 6 speed swap it, which is the better route.

Why NOT look into it? I'm not wanting to go crazy with my car, but if I could extend the life of the tranny somehow why not do it? Is it something electronic, or manual on these trannies?

No offense but that would look completely retarded. And your not supposed to shift a Automatic car like it's manual meaning 1 to 2 to d3 d4 NO!lol that = transmission failure then forcing you to buy another transmission.

Dude, don't be so quick to blast people. Your facts aren't even correct:

1.) You can't see a "shift kit"...you're thinking of a "shifter kit".

2.) A shift kit installation doesn't mean that you manually shift your car...your thinking of a "manual valve body"

3.) Transmission failure due to manually shifting? Has anyone actually seen this happen, or just heard about it from someone on the web?...Seriously, back in the 80's & 90's, everything from fast street cars to slow school-buses were driven this way...idk, maybe Honda decided to cloak a big, red, self-destruct button under our shifters so our trannys would blow...sounds logical...

To answer his question, no I have not seen any shift kits for an accord, but it may be possible to modify the separating plate on the valve body by slightly drilling out a couple of passages. You'll need a diagram (such as this one, but of your honda, of course) of which passages are which, though; you'll be looking for the 1-2, 2-3 shift passages.

I've done it on a few RWD's but never on a Honda...I would've if I still had a garage though, since like LCPLPunk said, it does extend the life of your trans...that's one of the reasons that B&M and TCI sold them to the motorhome/work truck crowd to begin with.

there nothing to look into. a company, Dr. Evil, used to rebuild the auto's for these cars and build them to be stronger for people who were sc'd, and they still eventually blew up, as far as i know. the autos in these cars, especailly the v6's are pretty much 100% garbage. if you have one that lasts, play the lottery, youll probably win that as well.
