Well the long story lol...the car was ok and id never received a check engine light or anything on it. The sparkplugs, wires, pcv valve were done 3 years ago. Air filter(in and out) were done about 6 months ago. Oil is changed every 3000-3500KM and tranny fluid is changed once a year.

Now, I took a trip to montreal and half way (after stopping for a break and then when starting again) the CEL came on as RUNNING LEAN BANK 1. I reset the light and it never came up again throughout all the driving for 3 days, until when i came back from Montreal and again halfway the trip, light comes on. Same code and everything so i reset it again and it never came up again for a week. I went to the first mechanic guy i could find and told them to change the o2 sensor. Hoping theyd do it right(i was wrong to hope so) they changed the back one instead of the front and i got charged 300$ for it lol. I took a trip to buffalo the next day(weekend) and light came on again halfway the trip after a stop over :computer:. Once i got back home i bought 2 Denso O2's myself and the wrench needed, (one for the front and one for the back) and replaced them myself. About 3-4 days after i started hearing a rattling noise coming from the exhaust piping but couldn't really pinpoint where it was coming from. At first i thought it was the midpipe but now im 99.9% sure its coming from the cat(it sounds like something inside is broken and rattling around). Another thing that started with the noise though is that the car feels like its drinking gas like an alcoholic. I used to get about 9L/100KM and now its going into the 10-11+L/100KM.

And finally my question being...does the cat probably being facked up have that much to do with the gas consumption???
I thought it was mostly there to clean up the exhaust gasses and as a resonator. Also if any1 wants to chime in in what you think may be facked up please do...

Lastly thanks for reading haha

Dude, your cat is like a honey comb inside. If it breaks up, its going to clog and reduce performance and gas mileage.

Yep, cat rattling sounds like its clogged.

If the sensor was reading lean you would be using less fuel on that side

I was hoping maybe i wouldnt hear that lol, but somehow i knew it would happen. I just dont get how the cat got facked it up =P...anyz i found someone selling a universal magnaflow cat however. Would it be worth it? as OEM's go for quite much much more -(

My cat was throwing codes over a year ago and I ended up buying this aftermarket cat from Ebay for about 130 or less. Its been over a year and everything is good. Will look and see if I remember the seller's name

Thanks a lot buddy...i can pick that up even locally =). Out of curiosity though what brand was it or is it NoName? Reason why im asking is im just afraid of getting it and it effing up lol or making me fail emissions.

I think they manufacture their own stuff. One thing i can tell you is that before I purchased from them I looked at other sellers and read comments left specifically about cats and Muxexpress was the one that made me feel more at ease.

So, basically I only have my personal experience and what I read from the feedback left to them.

As far as passing emissions, This will def. get your check engine light off if your current cat is throwing the codes. I has for me.
