Any sporting event that allows you to bring a cooler of beer in is defintely okay in my book. I think you just need to go to a nascar appreciate it a little. The smell of 43 cars burning racing fuel is the best high you can get.

Don't get me wrong, I love racing, but turning left the entire race just seems pointless. They also race super late models at the track and they smell delicious.

I live in the pits with the rest of the cars, technically you're not supposed to have alcohol in there until racing is over.

It's not like I hate it enough to show up, I've gone to 75% of the races this year so far. It's just every weekend someone asks me when I'm gonna get a car on the track and I tell them how stupid turning left is.

Well to be fair, Nascar isn't just circle track racing, but 95% of it is. Nationwide Series just raced at ROAD AMERICA road course, up your way. It looked like a pretty sweet track, and of course there are Watkins Glen and Infineon. My personal favorite is Laguna Seca. I have been in the pits at Bristol motor Speedway, and i couldn't even yell to guy next to me, it was so loud.

Yes, I watched the Infineon race the other weekend... I'm a road course guy and I enjoyed it a lot.

My biggest beef with circle track racing is that it comes down to money. The kid driving the CRX Si in the pictures finishes 4-6th every race, he drove the Geo Prizm before that and finished 15-17th regularly. It also comes down to how much cheating you can get away with. I know the saying though, "If ya ain't cheating, ya ain't racing" :lawl:

I'm a road course man as well, huge ALMS fan. But there are tech/tactics implemented in NASCAR that aren't in road course racing, so it commands a different type of appreciation in my opinion. I would agree NASCAR is definitely more entertaining in person as well.

Nice pics, looks like fun.

As someone who is big into racing and working on race cars, please everyone take note that N has nothing to do with the type of racing Brandon works with except for being the sanctioning body. I can't stand Nascar (I fell asleep for 100 laps when I went to the race in Dover lol) but love short track racing. The coolest thing in the world to me is watching 30+ 850hp modifieds go sideways into turn one on every single lap of a race. I bet everyone on this board could go out to your local asphalt or dirt racetrack and find something cool about it. By the way, I'm going to see a 410 sprint car race tomorrow night. Cars weigh nearly 1200 pounds and are well over 800 hp = Higher power to weight ratio than an indy car. Absolutely amazing!

Brandon I love the shots! Maybe get some of the late models on Sunday for me to see. BTW, what is the name of the track you guys run?

We race at Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN...

Every Sunday they run:

- Mini Stocks (4 cyl)
- Bombers (8 cyl, mainly Chevy 350)
- Hobby Stocks (4 cyl fox body mustangs)
- Late Models (ASA Midwest tour cars)

Here's a bomber:

I'll grab more pictures on the 11th, I'm out of town for the 4th. I found the best shooting spot AFTER all the races... :eusa_wall:
