i put the paste on the back part of the pad where the metal plate is. As far as what brand i would have to look on the box again but i know its ceramic pads. my friend that owns a performance shop here ordered me the pads it cost me $57 original price $80. i changed pads on my ej8 and rx8 before but this didnt happen. but thanks for the info, i looked up the procedure to break them in so ill try it out and see if the squeaking stops. well its a small blue packaged paste that i got from Napa. The paste itself is blue too. cant really take a picture cuz i threw it away when i was done with it.

Sounds like a breaking in issue.

Also depends on what pads you are using and/or if you are running the stock rotors as well (I missed if you posted what type of rotors).

It may break in over time, some pads take a little longer than others.

Do you notice whether it squeaking during shorts trips, or long trips as well?

It is more than likely the quality of the brake pads you installed, It could also be the breaking in that may or may not have taken place.

Just be redundant, you need to put the grease/paste between the shim and pad, not on top of the metal shim that clips on the back of the pad.

I usually just use silicon, it aborbs more pad vibrations. Also it is true sometime pad just squeek by nature.

brake fuild squeaks?:ughrun:

One easy and quick way of breaking in the pads are hard stops.

if it's not a breaking in issue you can try to have someone cut your rotors. maybe they're glazed over (mirror like finish to them).

just a though.

EDIT: if they're performance pads, meaning made for racing of any sort, they might have a harder material. the guy i know that owns a performance shop has sponsored quite a few race and show cars...he told me that the high end pads do make noise...look into that also.

and like HondaLuver83 said, some just squeak no matter what you do to them, if it bothers you that much just buy some decent semi-metallic pads and that should definitely solve your problem.

my friends m3 had performance brakes and they always squeaked.. so if you have something like that it is very possible they are going to be a little noisy

well im running OEM rotors and as far as performance pads yea they are. i didnt realize that they could squeak like this but oh well lets see much longer will they squeak. i had a friend of a friend who is a ASE honda tech take a look at my rotors to make sure that my rotors dont have to be cut and he said they pass factory specs and dont have to be cut. he pretty much said the same thing that i could change to OEM pads or stick with these pads and wait for them to break in properly.

HondaLuver83-Thanks bro. its weird though the description on the package said to put it on the metal shim lol. but ok ill put it between the shim and the pad and see if thats all i need to do (hopefully:thumbsup:)

It's been my experience that whenever I have changed pads on Hondas and Toyotas, and I did not use the OEM pads, I always got more squeal than the stock parts. On top of that I think ceramics probably make the situation worse. Before going through the trouble of replacing these, try bedding them in - it's worth a shot...even if my bet would be it may only quiet them down for a short time.
