i only jacked the car up but i couldn't see any leaks of any sort. all fluids are fine. no noise when i turn the steering wheel.

the only thing i would say is in a cold start, reverse gear smacks the hell out of the car. that's the only "performance" difference i really notice. mostly in the cold.

i also heard a slight squeaking noise. im going to guess it's the idler pulley bearing. when the car is on the pulley seems to be moving very very slightly side to side.

also i do have slow starts so that could also indicate the alternator on its way out.

by the way it has 95k miles for a 2000 v6. auto of course.

Sounds about normal for a car with a bit of miles on it. The tranny giving you problems when it's cold seems normal too. As long as it's not giving you problems when it's warmed up, you shouldn't have to worry about too much. The whining noise could be that the belt is not tightened down enough? I'm not sure, but that would be one of my first guesses as you said the pulley was moving a bit.
