Ok so I drive a 99 4cyl sedan. The stock exhaust is boring to me so I'd like to do something different, even if it is just a muffler. So I looked around a little on here and found out that Megan Racing, Magnaflow, Apexi are all really preference.

Anyways how much should I expect to pay (money IS a problem lol) and how much am I looking at for installation?

For example is something like this ok?

Installation is simple, check the Diy thread. With exhaust system, you get what you pay for. Check the product review for exhaust, there's a lot of information there!

i actually bought that same exhaust a couple weeks ago, i havent installed it yet cause my catalytic converter is rattling or something. but it should be around $377 and that includes tax and shipping. Its basically bolt off bolt on if u have something high enough to raise your car. if u take it to a shop to get installed its probably 50-80.. atleast thats how much when i asked all the shops around my area.

Oh it's just a bolt on? I'm considering buying it. Have you ever heard the way it sounds? I'm curious

You can either spend $400 or more on a Magnaflow or similar catback, or get a muffler and get a shop to do custom piping. The latter is cheaper, but the catback is easy to do yourself.

You really have two options:

1) Get a complete Magnaflow, Apexi, or Greddy catback. They cost more but have R&D behind them. All offer a great sound but all look differently on the car.

2) Get a Magnaflow, Vibrant, or some other muffler and have an exhaust shop weld up some custom piping for you.

Option 2 is cheaper than 1 but number 1 allows you to do the work yourself and is relatively easy.
