his may have already been cut out or something, i dont know how he violated physics otherwise...cause the stock front baskets will not accept 2" depth speakers without being cut.

spacing it any further than 3/4" will run into door panel issues.

hmmm...

well being that I will be running these speakers on my stock CD player should I just get the cheapest ones that fit without mods?

And the only reason I am thinking of doing a swap is because the rears are sooo blown that they make a "Wwwwooooooo-ing" sound and that gets annoying...and I'm sure even the crappiest Pioneers, JBL, SONY, etc are better than stock right? :hide:

its worth making better ones fit, for sure. i used a pair of cheap infinity slim 6.5s for a couple years till i got tired of them...super harsh highs, no midbass, not very loud, even with 60 watts on each.

then again, most cheap coaxes are pretty equal. it wouldn't surprise me if most baskets, cones, magnets, etc came from the same suppliers and were used by every brand :lawl:

if you're going to be giving them 5 or 8 watts from the headunit, then just get whatever is proportional to your budget and care level.

by all means I would love to get a new head unit and do this nice like in the BMW

BUT...

i'm a little tight on $$$$ so I wanted a fix for under 100 bucks

if I do it right I will be well over the 600 - 1000 range

it says top mount depth is 2 5/8"...2 3/4" is the absolute deepest you can mount without worrying about the door panel or the magnet hitting the window.

as far as the front it might take a little modding..but for the rear as long as they are 6x9 they should fit.. there is no backing for them so no worries of will they bottom out/ect its just crawl in there upside down and put them in...
