Here's the situation and some info about my car. Today while driving on the freeway at night time, coming back home from eating. My oem fog switch for civic fogs went out(my cruise control light still works), my gauge cluster lights went out,(low beam still works, left and right turn signals still work on dash, bulb 74 for milage still lights up, clock light still works, all interior lights work), radio still works but all the radio lights went out.

My Hvac lights work as well. I checked all fuses related to any lightning by swapping them out and testing it, but none fixed the problem. So now I'm starting to think somehow while driving on the freeway I blew out my multiplexor... Any suggestions on what to do before I order a new one?

p.s all the lights went out at the same time simultaneously.

Re: I think my multiplexor blew?

fixed the problem. I doubled check all fuses except "the small lights fuse(10a)", because I was reluctant to believe that was the cause. I did not touch any electrical or swap out any bulbs for at least 6months-1 year so I thought no way a fuse would blow only after being replaced for one year. hope this will help any future cluster light problems and can share my experience as future reference.

Unless you are willing to risk electrical damage or a fire. A fuse is a protection device that is designed to blow if the amp load in a circuit exceeds the "safe" limit for that circuit. When the current in a circuit exceeds the normal limit for whatever reason, the metal element in the fuse melts and opens the circuit stopping the flow of current. A short, for example, causes a runaway electrical current. If not stopped, wires can start to melt and things can catch on fire.

Under no circumstances should you ever bypass or eliminate a fuse. No electrical circuit should ever be operated without fuse protection. This is extremely dangerous, especially if you've had problems with a fuse blowing before.
