Got some FX45's. Long story short, no cutoff shields.
Hit me up with what you have lying around as id kinda rather put legit shields in rather than making sketchy ones out of a pie sheet or whatever.

Where did you get them from? If you were not informed that there were no cutoffs in them then a suggest bringing it up with the seller. If that does not work then where to get replacements I am unsure. I don't even know if they make replacement cut-offs. I personally would check theretrofitsource.com, HIDplanet.com, or ebay, or nissan/infiniti.

got em super cheap from a friend. He was planning on making custom cutoff shields, which gets done alot with bimmers but it helps to have the original cutoff to use as a template.
For the price I payed I couldnt say no. Figured id make it work.

This was one of the examples I was looking at.

i have one side at home. but i would personally make one your self. i used a sheet of metal and cut it. and plus that way u cant paint it blue or something to give you a color on the cut off. you just need to be exact on how you cut it.

hmm my concern was that the metal will be too flimsy and bounce whenever I hit a bump. what kind of metal/thickness did you use?

like sheet metal from homedepot. nothing to thick .. i know some people used pepsi cans but that seems like it would flimsy.

I really hope you got them for free, otherwise I think you're screwed

I haven't seen a custom cutoff shield with this projector. Several reasons for this, for one every time I've seen anyone try to even modify the stock cutoff shield the cutoff becomes more blurry.
but the biggest reason is that since its a bi-xenon projector the cutoff shield is connected to the solenoid, its not just a simple piece of metal

This guy put it best

It's just 4 screws and the back comes off. I looked at it and closed it again. I don't think I will be screwing with this delicate system. The shield is thin as paper.

I totally see your point and I probably should have stated that I'm taking out the solenoid and turning them into single xenon projectors... unless i can find someone that can do just the solenoids... but I doubt that's gunna happen.
And lets just say that I'm doing it for fun and if they end up in my garbage, I'm not going to be worried

you're like the second member on this forum that has no idea what you're doing in terms of retros. You can't just slap parts together, each projector is completely different from each other

yes i've seen several custom cutoff shields (I've been a member of HID planet for several years) but that design is completely different than the fx design.

You are not going to find any member here that does custom cutoff shields. Even if they did exist for the FX projector, it takes someone who has experience making them and testing them out. Your best bet is to go register at HIDPlanet and send JVX a private message and see if he can help you out.

uhh you can... hence the whole concept of retrofitting(slapping 2 random parts together)... just takes customization... duurp
Thanks for the HIDPlanet idea. Ill check it out but I will probably just end up making one myself with some sheet-metal
