Can someone confirm that the 07 TL base wheel is 17x8 with a +45 offset, just like the earlier model TL wheels that are very popular? If that is the correct size for the wheel would the preferred tire size be 235/45? Given this setup, how low can I get the car without doing any fender mods?

Thanks!

Running 235's will make you have a bad day.

You can get away with 225/50/17.

You can lower the car at least to the 1 finger gap mark. Depends on who/what you have in the car as well.

Base TL wheels are 17x8 +45. They came from the factory with 235/45/17 tires. But I would not go with 235, it's not really necessary, and just causes problems.

If you're going pretty low I'd go with 215/45 or 225/45. If you're going to have a finger gap or two I'd go with what would keep your speedo/odo the most accurate which would be 215/50 or 225/50.

Depends how low you are and if you have a camber kit. 215 or 225 should fit perfectly. You could go with 205/45 and have a little bit of stretch, get some spacers and it would look pretty mean. Check out Vlad's fitment.

Can you guys give me your best guess on this tire set up and whether or not you think fender mods needed to be made at this height? I have PM'ed the owner but have not receive a response. Just lost out on some 07 TL wheels and now I want to act on a set of these for sale locally. I believe they are 17"x6.5" TL-S wheels. I love the look. Any reasons why I shouldn't consider a 6.5" wide wheel?

Thanks.

^Those rims came with 215/50/17 tires from the factory, which is the size you would want to keep your speedo/odo readings accurate. At that ride height you are fine, these are only 1/2" wider than your factory wheels, which were 16x6. You won't come close to hitting the fender.

No reason not to run them, other than that they are on the narrower side. But they do look great. If you want a slightly wider wheel, the CL-S wheel of that same generation are 17x7, and very similar in style, albeit a little more concave. I ran a set for awhile and loved them.

EDIT: Throwback

okay, i went through 10 pages...i'm just gonna ask lol

what would be the ideal offset if i went 18x8.5 or 18x9.5?

I read +25 offset. I just wanted to confirm if this will be good or a better idea?

I wanted to do 18x8.5 in the front and 18x9.5 in the rear

@Judy, that is for the TL, I assume?

You could get away with a more aggressive offset, so that should actually be fine.
