    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

Diagnosis Complete! Luckily I didn't have to mess around with the fuel injectors though. Turns out it was the spark plug wires. However, I have a feeling it was a combination of the distributor cap and wires. The wires I had in there were fairly new, so that surprised me. I had only got them...

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

That's a great idea! I've heard using a screwdriver can help to hear the injectors too. Maybe I'll try that. I can;t believe I haven't though about swapping injectors...hopefully that will help me find my problem. Yes, I got some new wires, they just came today. I'm going to try wires and...

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

from what I experienced when loosening the fuel rail the other day, there are no clips. I forgot to relieve presure from fuel system before loosening up the fuel rail, and the injectors immediately pushed themselves out and I could smell gas, so I quick pushed them back in. I don't think...

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

Yeah I guess that's true. They're not too expensive and it's nice peace of mind knowing they're good. I'm going to buy a wireset and some fuel injector cleaner for my next tank. Luckily it's already low so I can add it in and fill up right away :) Will it hurt anything if I drive it to a...

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

I tried running it with that connector off and it didn't change anything..oh well. I've ran the car a bunch of times after clearing the codes last week, and I know it's still misfiring (easy to hear/feel), but the codes haven't come back up. I just thought that was weird. Could low coolant...

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

Ok so I got around to doing the rough compression test this evening. As far as I can tell, cylinder 1 sounded exactly the same as all the others, so I'm guessing it isn't a compression issue, which you expected. Now..injectors. Is the method that xci.ed6 described the way I should do it...

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

Sorry...We've had some terrible weather here this past week and I haven't had a chance to work on the car yet. I should be able to get around to it today, and I'll update the thread. Thanks for the detailed instructions! Very helpful.

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

Can you explain this a little better or make sure I'm understanding correctly? So pull the fuel rail up and injectors out, run the pump (turn car on, but don't start it?). Then how do I get them to spray? Try to start the engine with injectors pulled out a bit? I'll try clearing the codes...

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

Still getting a misfire with the new cap and rotor  Maybe I should check the wires again? I don't have a fuel pressure gauge either...any ideas?

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

Replacing the distributor cap and ignition rotor right now.. Here what they looked like... Looks like some of that oily grime could be the culprit And the rotor..

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

No, didn't remove the cap on distributor. Should I do that? What do I look for? I've never done it, but I've done some research and it seems I can use a multimeter to check them. Will that work?

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

Alright, I think I'm going to attempt cleaning the EGR this weekend. Any tips I should know? Is there a DIY here? I'm fairly certain it's not the plugs or wires. I switched plugs between cylinders 1 and 2, and also checked the spark on cylinder 1 by pulling the wire off of the plug while it was...

    Cylinder 1 Misfire - P0103 and P1399

I have a '00 4cyl, SE. I was driving home and noticed all of the sudden that the car started idling rough at stop lights, CEL flashing, and it didn't seem like the car wanted to keep running. Luckily made it back to my apartment which was about a mile from where it started happening. I have a...

Starting Problem, doesn't seem to be firing right

Thanks for the ideas...I finally got it running over the weekend. Sorry I've been out of power from Sandy for the past week and couldn't get on the forum from home. I made sure that I had the wires hooked up the same as they were originally (I took a picture). I decided to change the plugs...

Starting Problem, doesn't seem to be firing right

So the other morning I tried to start my car (2000 4cyl SE sedan), and it would turn over, just not fire. I first thought it was the battery since it was a very old and weak one, so I replaced it with a brand new battery. After that, the problem didn't change at all. Luckily, I was working in...
