Power Steering Pump Failure or a Leak?

The Honda PS fluid seems to keep the pump quieter, and it might have some extra stuff in it that keeps the hoses and "O" rings lubed. As for using Prestone anti-freeze, I wouldn't. Prestone has changed it's formula to that of GM's Dexcool, which is the absolute worst stuff you can run in an...

    2000 Honda Accord - F23A1 - Manual - PHANTOM ECU

This sounds more like the immobilizer circuit is doing it's job. Did you get 2 keys with the car? If so, try the other in it. Just asking as my wife's car (00 Accord LX) came with 2 keys, and only 1 would actually start the car, since it has the chip in it. We/she ended up taking it to the...

Exactly. You'll have it torn down, so might as well go thru it all.

Well, I was just giving you a heads up. Like I said some states are pickier than others, and the more informed you are the better off you'll be. You might even be able to get the info from Ohio's DMV (or whatever they call it there) web site.

You might be able to re-pin it for VTEC, but I really don't know. You might want to keep looking. Keep in mind that from 94 on, Honda kept adding more electronics to control the trans. Hell, even with the 6th gen Accord, there's 2 different AT's. One is 98-99, and the other is 00-02.

    Front Adjustable UCAs - Suggestions

When I did the front end of my 99, I did hub bearings and lower ball joints at the same time. I re-used my 4 lug hubs though, as they were Honda parts. The hub bearings were Timken, but the ball joints were from Detroit Axle. I also did outer tie rod ends too. I did that at 232K miles. The hub...

    Denton’s Accidental 7th Gen

I think I'd get some info from the state to see what really needs to be done for the rebuild inspection. Some states have different requirements, and might check a ton of stuff, while others might just check for safety equipment, and general health of the car. Irregardless, it's going to have a...

    Enne's 1999 Accord LX sedan 2.3 L - Selene

I've been getting the parts I need now from O'Reilly's. My son's buddy works there, and gives me a discount when he can. He's also willing to look stuff up when I need something "odd". Been buying my oil from Tractor supply, as it's almost half what the Zone wants for oil. I just get my oil...

Those are "self locking" nuts. Perfectly normal for the application, as not everyone has loctite in their tool box.

    Exhaust system help

Maybe. I did research the exhaust thread on here before I bought it. Quite a few were using straight pipe and a Magnaflow muffler. I talked with a guy on here who installed 1 on his Acura, and loved it. He's actually putting 1 on his wife's Accord. Said it's quiet at idle, and rumbles with your...

    Exhaust system help

That's the thing I like about the Magnaflow on my car, it's fairly quiet at idle, and you can hear the radio at highway speeds and even carry on a conversation. I scared the crap out of my buddies wife last week when I stopped by. She didn't hear me, but she also claims my car is loud. Must...

So I might be trading Frankenstein, thoughts?

Sounds like someone was thinking about pegging the tach, and was worried about a rod letting go. ;) Or maybe it was putting it in the wrong gear and over reving it. But yes, after having 2 engines let go, I think I'd be nervous of an unknown engine as well. As for dropping the tank to...

    F23 auto ecu options

Yeah, that's the problem with these cars, they're not worth a whole lot. Look on Craig's List, and you'll find several for a grand or less.:poke: If there's no rust, then it's 1500 or so. But, Civics are going for 2K all day long.

    Wheel Fitment Thread

Hate to say it, but to reduce the poke, you'll need a different offset rim (something like a +38). Side note, I love how it looks right now. My 99 Accord is DEP too, and I'm running 215-55-15's on 15-6.5 +38 rims. I had to add a 10mm spacer to the rear to get the rears more flushed up with the...

So I might be trading Frankenstein, thoughts?

I thought it was the 1 that was supposed to share the Opel chassis, but the Saab engineers decided it needed more metal and other work added to make it a better/safer car. So much so that Saab threw out the GM navigation system as it was junk. GM was loosing money on every Saab sold, because...

Power Steering Pump Failure or a Leak?

This is because the rack is at full lock and doesn't need more fluid to pass thru it. Once you come off full lock, the fluid starts rushing thru the system, and bringing the air with it.

Unless it's got a heat shield, you might want to rethink adding it. The exhaust will melt that plastic the first time it gets warm enough. It's either that, or add a heat shield to it. :)

Power Steering Pump Failure or a Leak?

Hose #12 is located right under the radiator support (core support). I'd use it as a drain. I thought you were replacing the pump? If so, drain the system via #12 hose, change the pump, then hook everything back up. Then fill thru the res jug. If you're really anal about it, you'll drain and...
