If you shoot action/sports events for a any type of money, then fast and accurate AF is a must have! And if you shoot action, then getting a shot and cropping it later is MUCH better than missing the shot entirely because it wasn't framed correctly :p

Bored. Don't be mad :D Half-assed job of cleaning up the ground, cropped, artistic sharpening. Probably not what a company would want for an advertisement. I would try to clean up the ground a bit, unless that's what they want.

Anyone looking for lens advice needs to post what camera they have! :lawl: On a Canon crop the 17-55 2.8 IS is the bees knees, the Tamron seems like a good alternative for half the price. If you are on a strict budget and want something useful the new version of the Canon kit lens (the one...

FF/35mm and 1.6x have vary different FOV's. "Standard" on a 35mm sensor is far from it on a 1.6x crop. It's more like ~30mm at standard on a 1.6x crop :) And that's the field of view of a 17mm lens on a 1.6x crop. That's why I don't see why some crop owners just "live with" a lens that...

I hate the 24/28mm starting point on a crop body. That's right where the middle of a zoom should be!

    A friends photoshoot

*Numbering the photos helps for commenting. #5 is by far the best of the group, but I also like #7. You must pay attention to the background of the images. All of the other pictures have some sort of "clutter" behind the subject (road, power lines, etc). They distract from the subject and...

Yeah, a lot of the L's have the 77mm filter size.

At least most of the Canon's are 77mm's. It makes sharing them easier.

    Help with manual mode!

I would DEFINITELY recommend mastering manual exposure setting with natural light before you move to a flash setup. Most modern DSLR's have an exposure meter right in the viewfinder. This will be a good place to start. Then review the histogram and adjust from there.

If you had more distance between the subject and background it would be more blurred. With the extenders my lens wouldn't even AF on the moon :(

Mine was hand held and I had to manually focus it on live view 10x zoom. Much better results than I've had in the past. If I had a tripod it would probably help a lot. What settings do you use for the moon? I shoot manual and try many, many different exposures and see what comes out best...

These are great shots! Very good panning. Since you wanted comments... Tight crops are not always better Car should be entering the frame Rule of thirds Slightly crooked horizons bother me I like 4x6 aspect ratio Basically all of these are preference. Your shots look awesome...
