I hate the 24/28mm starting point on a crop body. That's right where the middle of a zoom should be!
i love the standard 50mm viewpoint and i dont believe in zooms sooooo... :lawl:

16mm is my widest lens, and that's too wide for normal use. its a fisheye, granted, although i find the kit lens under 35mm is just too wide...
FF/35mm and 1.6x have vary different FOV's. "Standard" on a 35mm sensor is far from it on a 1.6x crop. It's more like ~30mm at standard on a 1.6x crop :)

I had my 24-70 at 28mm for most of those shots, I like that length.
And that's the field of view of a 17mm lens on a 1.6x crop. That's why I don't see why some crop owners just "live with" a lens that starts at 28mm. If you're going to use a zoom, at least make it a useful one!

i found that i like the 50mm focal length on aps-c and 135 most...since focal length never changes. but on the crop, the field of view tends to be too narrow with a 50mm lens so i sub in the 28mm for a standard view...although i would like more magnification.

someday i'll be able to afford the 31/1.8, 43/1.9, and 77/1.8 limiteds to use on film and digital...someday...

APS-C = crop

But if you were trying to say what I think you were trying to say, then I completely agree :p

Although I'm not a prime user....

field of view (and depth of field) changes with format size...focal length remains the same...so i think yeah, we mean the same thing :lawl:

just shipped out my most-used zoom and probably most-used lens  300mm+ club, here i come...

I'm thinking Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM for my 50D but it's $$$$ - soon.
