nice write up, definitely gonna do this, i completely forgot about the clock light(my bulbs been out since i got the car lol)

I'll have to double-check the number and size of bulbs on the AC controls. Majestic shows, what looks like, 1-3mm, 2-4mm and 3-5mm. I'll double check specific bulbs and while Im at it, I might as well make a DIY for that, too, lol.

New poster here. Just bought a 2000 Accord two weeks ago and I was curious about the clock. Cannot read it at all at night. So I'm thinking my bulb must be out. Did you ever find out the size? I Will be removing the blue film as well.
Pardon my thickheadedness, but i'm not understanding what the foil is for.

^clock LED size is 3mm.
The foil is for bouncing the light around more inside the housing so more of it gets to the diffuser. I can confirm that this does work, it greatly improved the brightness of mine. Idea of placement:

No prob. 
The bulb is aimed inside that compartment on the left, with the diffuser to the right of it, so the bulb is not directly aimed into the diffuser. Which is why every time someone converts their clock to LED, it gets dim because the diffuser is not catching much light from the LED. This greatly helps that.
And as I said earlier, it helps to get an LED with a diffuser around it instead of just one with an LED at the end of it facing out. If there are any radial firing LED's that are 3mm and would fit this application, those would be even better I think.

Man, how long have they been making those bulbs? I have done a few conversions and either used the stock plastic on the bulb piece and had to try to fit a resistor on or just hard wire. You post makes my life 100x easier. I have not done a few switches because I didn't want to deal with the frustration. I am going to order a bunch of these.
