00 Accord 4Cyl Exhaust--HELP!!---

Hey hows it going...So i own a 00 Accord LX 4cyl...Cali Emissions. Now my Muffler is All Rusted and Broken, all Opened up, i've been asking around mechanics shops in my area about the muffler everyone is having trouble finding a muffler for my car. I don't see any Muffler shops around me either...

So i found this Tuner shop by me...cool dude he has his connections He took a look at my car and told me i need to change the whole exhaust, which i kinda figured but damn Money is very scarce right now. He called me and gave me the Price just for the Exhaust for my car $552 not including labor...i was like :wtf1:
Only cuz Cali Emission car parts are "More Expensive" which Freakin Sux..

I need Opinions anything would help out....

well, the only thing that would effect ulev emissions would be the catalytic converter. do you need to replace that as well?


Check a local junkyard if you have to, you can save a bunch of money that way...

I went to ebay for my 01's exhaust and i got everything new for around $250 and then put them on myself when my pipes rusted out. easy fixes just pull and bolt on.

thnx for the Quick replies...well the pipe is rusted has the Rust color doesn't look in bad conditon...one mechanic says pipe looks fine...Just need the Muffler and a Flex pipe i think its called...But Muffler needs to be changed ASAP...i'll take a pic later...Wife took the damn Camera..

why do you need to change your flexpipe? do you get a smell of gas in your cabin when the car's at an idle?

post pics, i find it weird that you have to change the whole exhaust

^I agree. My first impression is that you only need a new muffler and that this "cool dude" is taking you for a ride.

he's taking u for a ride.. go to a muffler shop.. buy a generic muffler and have them fab the piping.. should cost u around $100-$150 at most

If you have a leak in your flex pipe, you can just have the shop reweld it for dirt cheap. This guy is ripping you off and I would just stay away. Most custom exhausts can easily be installed with labor for around $250-$300. And there are very very exhausts that are actually carb legal for California. If you don't live in California, I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. We're the only state that gets super anal when it comes to smog.
