In the morning get in the car, leave the driver door open and turn the key to second position. You should hear a buzzing sound(fuel pump priming). Now try priming the fuel pump a few times before you attempt to start it (ie. key off, turn to second position(give it a second or two), key off again then back to second position and repeat a few times)

Just for the sake of it, use a flash light, get under the drivers dash(footwell) and touch the main relay with one hand as you turn the key to 2nd position...you should feel/hear a click.

The fact that its a cold/hot problem makes me think its a connection issue of some sort.

Some possibilities,

-Battery discharged or low
-Malfunctioning fuel system
-Injector(s) leaking
-Distributor rotor carbon tracked

wasnt sure if it was the ignition coil or not. Was a problem in my old car. Sometimes it would start right up and sometimes not at all.
