Hi all,

I have a 2001 EX 4-cyl, 5-speed. Stock everything - just bought it. It shifts fine, but feels sloppy - there's a lot of play / wobble in the shift lever. Less when in gear, but still there.

The wobble is side-side and forward-back. I do not feel play if I pull straight up on the shifter.

I haven't pulled anything apart yet, but I poured over the photos in the Pspec S.S. installation thread, looking for anything resembling adjustment screws, bushings, etc.

Any ideas before I start pulling it apart? Doubt I'll get to it until after the holidays... just wondering if this is normal / fixable / worth the time.

well there isnt any real way to adjust that. i think its just play in the shifter box.

you know how the shifter has the ball on the bottom then the metal piece that sticks out of the side?? its toward the left of the shifter (monty's pic)

if you made something that would make that "arm" be a tighter fit into that plastic piece that might fix your side to side motion. that's the best solution i thought of. havent tried it tho sense my pspec is already installed

I see what you're saying. I should be able to see that just by taking the boot off. Thanks kn0x47

i have the same issue....never really bothered with it...but i do have one issue....my shifter goes into gear super roughly...like i have to shove it into gear....oil is good cuz i just swapped my clutch and poured oil till it dripped out....i did the 5spd swap and im thinking mayb sumthing could b kinking the shifter cable but i highly doubt that cuz i double check...is there anything inside the tranny that can cause this.?
