anyone heard about 17s with 215/45 or 225/45 becoming warped or bent from daily driving? not from hitting a curb at high speed, but like hitting a pothole and such.

thanks

I guess it would depend on the size of the pothole and how good of quality the rim was. I have 18's with 215/35's on my ride and there were some crazy potholes around chicago when i was living up there and no bent or warped rims here. 17's should have more then enough "tire" to keep the wheels from being beat up.

You can defineatly bend you wheels from potholes. THat's how most rims get bent. It just depends on the pothole, the impact, etc. 17's will be less likely than bigger because you do have more tire but it's most defineatly possible.

it all depends on the material your rims are made of. i have 18s and they are heavy as fawk. so i'm guessing they are made of some strong material. my friend has 17s on his civic, but his rims are made of that light weight ****. (i can't think right now of the names). we drive on the same roads and such so theres a constant. the only changed variables are tire size and the rims material. he has thicker tires than i do, but his are still dent all over the place. i'm sorry if you guys don't understand what i'm saying.

Well 99% of aftermarket rims are alluminum. It just matters how strong they are from design, to thickness, to forged vs. cast, etc.
