Hey everyone, I've come to a point in the road where I've got a serious decision to make. Here's the story behind my Accord.

When I was 16 years old, before I got my license (around March 2012), I bought my 1998 Accord 4-Cylinder EX sedan. I loved the car to death and spent 2 days a week detailing and washing it. I got my license in April and started driving. Three months later (in July of the same year), I smacked her into a pole going about 15 MPH because I was trying to avoid being rear ended. (I moved into a turn lane and heard screeching tires behind me, so naturally I looked into my rearview, taking my eyes off the road. By the time I looked back up, there was a phone pole in my engine bay.) I had some money saved up from working, and I ended up doing odd jobs around the family and the neighborhood to make some money. I saved up about $400 and proceeded to fix it. I had to bust off the old radiator support and re-weld a new one on. I also had to replace the AC condensor, the AC fan, the hood, and a few other things. Well I did all that (on my own), and had the car back up to par.

Fast forward to April of this year, and then I started having the notorious tranny slip. I was broke as a joke at the time, so I had to continue to drive it that way for around two or three months, and then managed to scoop up a wrecked '99 EX sedan for $500! I swapped over the tranny, parted iut what I could, and scrapped the frame. My car is now fully functional. Over the past few months, I've had to sink roughly $1000 into miscellaneous parts/sensors/whatever else. The car is continuing to have issues.

What I'm saying is I need some help from you guys to decide on my future. I've come up with three options:
A- Sell the car and get something else
B- Replace a bunch of ****, rebuild the F23 and build it for turbo
C- H22 turbo swap!

My car currently has 233k miles on it, 17k of which I myself have put on it. I love the car. It's dependable, spacious, comfy, and decent on gas milage. I really want to lower the car and do some various other mods as well. However, I'm looking at a budget of roughly $5k. I want a manual, because I don't want to have to hunt down another auto tranny. I also NEED more power.

I know you guys will steer me in the right direction and give me some insight on things I may have left out. Please help me make a decision. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. Thanks!

Uhm no.

That's fairy tail stuff. If you can't do a good turbo build and trans swap for 5k, there's no chance in hell you could do an NA to even 170 IMO.

I understand your situation sir. I had to let go of my last 6thgen coupe despite the fact it wasn't having any mechanical issues at all. The hail storm did damage it, but nothing that kept it from being drivable.
The question I had to ask my self though, was did I want to sink around 5-6K in paint and body into a car with 200K miles? Sure it ran fine, and would probably out last the new paint. But I had to consider a worse case scenario for the long term investment of paint and body work:

-Car gets wrecked. Due to mileage, I wouldn't collect squat from any insurance company. Car gets totaled and I have limited funds to buy another. Starting all over again with the used car "quarks".

-Car suffers detrimental mechanical failure. Nice paint, a dependable car does not make. There for not worth a fraction of what I have in it overall.

Granted all of us probably sink more into these cars then they are worth, you have to stop to consider how much money you really want to invest. Considering that you may not see all (or some times any of it) later down the road.

Fyi: I sold the 6th gen, went through two more cars, and came full circle to another coupe with nice paint and half the miles. Haha. Hope that helps. Good luck.
