alternator bolt!

has anyone ever had their main alternator bolt break on them? i went to go put windshield washer fluid in my car and noticed my bolt sticking out. i went togo tighten it only to find out that the bolt was broken. so dies anyone have an idea on how hard its going to be to drill it out?

never broke mine... i'd suggest replacing it asap and making sure the belt is still tensioned correctly

ive seen it happen a couple times in 4g63's

the ease of repair depends on your previous experience with drilling out other bolts. you could try one of those reverse-out bits which basically screw into the bolt shaft and grab it. id try that first, but im not a mechanic and my advice is free...so take it as such...

The end of the bolt should stick out the other end of the mount and you should be able to grab it with a vise grip. You will most likely need to remove the alt and mounting bracket to get any sort of workable angle on the bolt.

that's what i was thinking too. i just wanted to see if anyone has had to do it, so i could see how bad it was going to be.
