I just put a 1000 wat amp in my car. I'ts powering 2 12 mtx 4500. I have a sony deck. the power wire is 8 gauge. when I put in at about 25 the fuse on the amp always pops. Why is that?

Well for one you should be running 4 gauge wiring, that 8 gauge is far to small to carry the load needed. Second that fuse is too small, you need to be running at least a 150amp fuse for 1000 watts RMS.

What size is your ground cable and how long is it?

1/0, optima, and ho alts are for people running major power. I've ran nearly 1800W on 4 gauge and my lights didnt even dim.

My bad it is 4 gauge wire. I do have a yellow optima battery. my ground wire is about 5 feet long. How would I fit a 150amp fuse in there. the spot is tiny. so that wont work.

Open the manual for the amp or find it online, figure out the proper fuse size. If you run something bigger than what the amp calls for you may damage it.

And a 150A would cover you to 2,175W. You're ground wire should be shorter, preferably under 3 feet.

I'm not talking about the fuse coming from the battery to the amp. I'm talking about the fuse on the amp

make sure the fuse you have is matched up to ya amp...say ya amp has 2 30 watt fuses use a 60 to match it or find 50 if they make it to give u a bit more protection..and deff shorten up that ground 5 ft wtf???
