16’s are too small, you’ll have too much sidewall in the tire which means instability when it comes to cornering. I would go with 17’s or 18’s with an 8-8.5” width. You’ll want the wheels to be decently light. And get yourself a good set of tires, like T1R’s.

You do make a good point. Would going 8 or 8.5 make a big difference? im guessing the lower the car goes, the more area im going to want from my tires?

^Contact patch doesn’t really have anything to do with how low your car is, unless you’re slamming it and you want to stretch tires for “fitment”, which is not a good idea if the car is going to be tracked.

As for the difference between 8” and 8.5”…it’s ½”, so not a huge difference. But you want to get as big a contact patch as you can without compromising performance or rubbing, etc.
