I was wondering if you really need hood pin. I was told by many people with the sedan's you need hood pins more than on the coupes. It says on the hood's that they are required. Does anyone know if it is needed or is it unsafe to not have them driving highways or around town? Thanks

for Piece of Mind safety, it's highly recommended to have hoodpins. But you're free to roll around without it for the 'cleaner' look.

get the hood pins, because just the hood clamp its slef isnt enough. My hood popped a couple of times before i put the hood pins in. Especially going down I-95. A friend of mine bought a hood and drove his ride hit about 112mph and his hood flewoff. but of course his ride was a mazda...LOL

if u go with a really good brand
and it actually clings to the hook
then u should be ok

but safe side id use hood pins

cause
hood lighter and easier to fly open if it catches enough air
CF is strong but since there might be so much stress on the hinge it might start cracking and tear open or might just be loose

hood latches are hard to use for our cars because our hood slants where we would normally put the rods, and the latches don't stay flat on our hoods...I have sparco hood pins and they work great, you use the stock holes in the car anyways.

Just some extra info...there is a possibility that at high speeds, without hood pins, your latch on the car (the single one in the middle of the hood that locks, just like the stock one) could break off because the hood is so light...this would cause the hood to fly into your windshield leaving you blind at whatever speed you were going...

You want the hood pins for sure, it's not worth the risk as you can see from the other posts on here, beside you can get so many different styles, it only adds to the look of the CF hood. NRG and a few other companies have the CF ones in silver or black. Nice compliment to go with the CF hood.

there is nothing worse that having your hood fly up and crush your entire windshield, trust me its one of the worst expiriences ever, and mine didnt ever send large ammounts of glass through the cabin

I wanna know why a sedan would likely need some but not a coupe.

I didnt have any on mine and it was fine til my sister backed into my car cracking my hinge.
