Well I just bought this 99 accord 4 cylinder to fix up and sell but for some reason the shifter is able to move from park without pressing the button on the side and I am not sure what the issue really is I usually deal with stick cars I need some type of info

Is the botton stuck pressed in?
I would just take (carefully) it all apart it's not super complicated system.
Good luck!

No I don't believe it is stuck in there because it will only pull to reverse and not move untill I press the button...I'll just have to do like you said and take it apart..and see what's the issue..and the lights on the aren't working

Meaning the part where you'd stick the key to move it into neutral when the key isn't in the ignition??

Yes.. but now that i think about it i dont think the shift lock would really have anything to do with your situation ..
Take apart the centre console area and have a look around to see if theres anything not in the right place or missing/damaged.
The lights on the shifter? That could easily just be a blown bulb or the connection is loose..

I just replaced my auto shifter for this reason. It could move freely from one gear to another without pressing the button. There is a white plastic rod in the assembly and if that is cracked at all then the shifter won't work fully or sometimes at all. I got a complete auto shifter off ebay and the light works for $60. installed it and the problem was solved. You can't just but individual pieces of the shifter. I looked to no avail. Here is a link.
Hope this helps and if so leave rep. Dang found you a better priced one than I found. http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-01-02-Ho...Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc842f3d1&vxp=mtr
