sanding is for the prepping stage where u smooth out the repair spot as best as u can... this is done using rough grid paper (low number grid paper)

wet sanding is done after paint is applied to the surface.. u're wet-sanding it to remove minor imperfection of the paint before u spray on another layer of paint.... u do this using high number grid paper... and u do this under running water...

yeah. there's a big difference between sanding and wetsanding. when you use a higher grit, for example, 1000 grit it's best to put water on the surface while you sand it so you can get a smooth surface.
