Hey guys,

I'm trying to install a set of Boston SX60s in the front doors of my 01 Accord. I've removed the old factory speaker and basket, but I cannot figure a way to mount these things using the variety of rings and spacers that were provided with the new speakers.

After searching here, I've found that it might be worthwhile to cut out the back of my Honda speaker basket to allow the speaker to fit. However, I turned the speaker upside down to try to match up the mounting holes with those in the basket, and they don't match. The speaker is just slightly larger...

Is my only option here to make my own mounting device, such as a piece of MDF? I don't have the tools to cut holes in MDF. Surely there must be a way to get these things mounted...

Also, where have you guys mounted your component crossovers?

Thanks

EDIT: I made new holes in the speaker basket and using a couple of baffles and a ring that came with the speaker, i managed to get it in there. I had to dremel away a bit of the area where the connectors hook up too.

Go buy some MDF and make the adapter. It will absorb some of the vibration from the speaker (less door vibration) and is the cheapest way to go.

Thanks Niskyspy, but as I mentioned in my original post, I do not have the tools for cutting MDF to make an adapter. If I hadn't managed to jimmy the speakers into the speaker baskets, I would have definitely purchased the pre-fab adapters that Badger posted from eBay. They were only a few bucks.

EDIT: I may purchase those adapters and remount the speakers anyway. I'm not confident I'm getting the best sound out of them due to the questionable methods I employed :)
EDIT 2: Screw it. I bought the MDF adapters. If I'm going to spend $150 on speakers, I may as well spend another $20 to mount them correctly.
