Hey everyone. I am making this thread because I would like to know how you guys adjust the seating position in your manual transmission accord.

I am having issues getting the seat comfortable, and I keep messing with it every day and it honestly drives me nuts. I know supposedly your supposed to sit so that your wrist touches the wheel without your shoulder lifting, but in this case I cannot properly operate the clutch because my leg hits the under dash.

I have also tried sitting very low and far away from the clutch but my legs start to get sore because I have to stretch them all the way out.

Does anyone have any advice? How high do you sit? How far away? And how much do you recline the seat? My car has the power seats as well as it is a 5 speed EX.

Thank you!

I'm 6'3 so I'm not super tall but tall enough where leg room can be an issue
I base my seat position on what's comfortable for my legs
once i find a position where it is comfortable to push in the clutch, I tweak it from there.
I start by adjusting distance from the wheel (forward and backwards) then seat height, then SEAT angle, and finally reclining the seat
It may take you a little bit to get used to changing your driving position so if you can't get comfortable right away just give it a couple days maybe

other members have bought lumbar supports

He probably has manual seats if he is driving a stick considering there aren't a whole lot with the ex trim. Do you not have adjustable lumbar support? And as RedRyder said, there is nothing wrong with swapping some other seats like TL or CL seats

^ No, actually my car is the EX-L with power seats. I am not sure how to adjust lumbar support however :fail:

I've stuck with my original position, where my legs hit under the dash below the wheel when using the clutch, because at least this position is comfortable daily driving, and is decent when it comes to clutch feel but not as much as I would like. I was thinking about swapping the seats but I have a long list of projects before that can be completed

Well since I am 6 1 I have had a bit of bumping problems. My advice. Fix the lumbar, which is on the right side of your seat. Its like a little handle and you push itkind of in the same way you put down a handbrake. And then raise the steering wheel up, and adjust the seat to be aslow as possible for the time being. :coffee:

Your clutch release may be too high or low for your preference. When I've driven my mom's manual Kia Sportster I have to move the seat awkwardly far away because barely pressing the clutch an inch will put it in neutral.

Since I prefer to keep my knees nearly touching the dash (in a race-like position), doing this in her car makes it a PIA just to move it forward in her inclined driveway.

Have you adjusted the steering wheel height or thought about shortening your shifter knob?

Lou.
Replace the seat

Agreed. Case closed.:smash:

Seriously though I can understand. The o.e. seats (Electric or manual) can be uncomfortable at times. My 03' Cls sucked to drive in part becasue of the seats. Honda just doesn't invest alot there.
