For those that care, Canon's decided to step up their game:

Dpreview link

I think I've found my next body. I'm very impressed by everything that the camera has to offer. Just gotta wait for about 6-8 months before it's actually available and prices to drop. At that point, a stable firmware should be available and quirks fixed. Hopefully I can get this body by summer of 2010.

And to think; I was this [---|-] close to jumping up to a 50D for about $950. Looks like the XSi is going to have to tough it out for a little while longer.

This body seems to be shooting for the D300s that Nikon just introduced - aka the BEST crop body that you can buy.

Thoughts? Comments?

an 18MP crop, at that.

i would go back to a low density 6MP crop sensor in a heartbeat if there was one...

i started with a 300D :eh: i know all about that sensor :lawl:

the full frame cameras aren't necessarily better (with regards to noise) because they have a bigger sensor...they're better because there is more space for the electrons or whatever to absorb light.

its been shown a few times that 6MP is the ideal resolution of a crop sensor...

I really loved the image quality that came from my 30D, and the noise handling was very very good.
