Hello everybody,
I've got a 2000 Honda Accord DX 5spd with 165,000 miles on it. Recently there has been a problem where the car won't start. I tracked the issue down to the starter since the engine was not turning over and the starter was receiving power from the battery and signal from the ignition system, so I removed it, took it to the local O'Reilly's to get it bench tested and to confirm that the starter was bad, and bought a remanufactured Denso starter from RockAuto (part #280-0187). I then replaced the starter, torqued the two bolts to spec (33 ft.lbs), and then when I tried starting the car I heard the starter spin but the engine itself was not spinning. I hooked up some jumper cables to another car to see if maybe the battery was the issue but it is not.
Any tips on what I should check out? I'd like to try everything out before I end up sending it to my mechanic and paying for labor. Will be needing this car for school soon and I'd rather fix it myself than take it to a shop.
Thank you.
