Re: Goodbye and farewell for now...

sooooooo, if your best buddy decides to do something so stupid, u would be supportive of him regardless of the outcome?

if u were a true friend, u would knock some sense into him

This. That was my first instinct, especially because the car is worth a decent sum.

Right. But Matt isn't anyone's best buddy on here haha. You only speak with someone on certain terms when you know them so well. None of us know the intimate details of his life or this particular situation, which Derek referred to as "walking in his shoes."

For example, do you make, say, borderline racist jokes with someone you just met? Hell no. You get to know them better first and build up that rapport and understanding of one another.

2. Stop contradicting yourselves by going through all the other options he could have done and then wrap up your post with "It's your car/Why should I care?"

This. That was my first instinct, especially because the car is worth a decent sum.

However, like Derek said, we don't know the circumstances or the financial situation that led Matt to this decision. I hope it works out in the end for the best.

Be Well Matt!

Case in point. :lawl:

^None of our posts have showed favoritism or stated we agreed with his decision, just neutral statements saying let's just let him and his decision be since none us know the intimate details of any of this ****. No self righteousness has reared its ugly head.

Well, I wouldn't really put this in the class of "something so stupid", since it's really not that serious.

As I true friend, I would look at the situation and give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what's best in his situation.

Bottom line, he is getting rid of a car, not putting up his kids for adoption.

Re: Goodbye and farewell for now...

I'm just saying that all of us who are really interested have been a part of this community for at least 4 years and many of you way more than that. Matt has not only shared his personal struggles with us, but the community also took care of him after that storm.

Should we not have some concern for a member of our community? Be it, we have never met in person, as Matt has been such a long time and quality member, wouldn't it be worse if we all just said "See ya Matt!" or "Good Luck!"

If I posted something like this, I would expect that someone would question why I did it, at least I would hope someone had the brains to make me take a second look. I don't think we're criticizing at all, just looking out for his best interests.

If handing this car over to someone is what needs to be done and in his best interests, then more power to him.

Like this post.

:coffee:

The thing is, there are some of us that have developed a bit of a rapport with other members of this community, and are willing to show our support for them when warranted.

Then there is you, most times someone has something to say in a thread that actually has some depth to it, it's only a matter of time until the "save the self-righteous speech" post shows up.

If you don't want to read the "self-righteous speeches".....leave the thread alone, my friend.

Just a suggestion.

Re: Goodbye and farewell for now...

see there we go, self righteous as all hell. Thinking you know what's best and can tell people where they can and cannot post.

Roy and Steve can ask anything they like.

and it's barely rapport, it's nutswinger status if you can't let some members ask questions.

*edit*

just :lawl: at the irony of whoever added that tag. I'm not rescinding what I said, so whoever it was I agree with you.
