First post.

Troubleshooting a p1457 code. Cleared comes back in a day. Pulled out the vent valve and applied power. Solenoid acted like it was working normally when I applied power to it from a battery jumper pack.
Found one thread where the guy changed out the valve on this site. He had a different style valve. I believe he had the made in mexico valve and I have the made in Japan.

Got car in air now, rust in my eye and hair. appreciate any help.

be like it is
theres 3 parts to that system: the purge valve, the solenoid, and the canister. i cant remember the correct terms off hand without looking at a parts list.

i replaced the part behind the plastic cover on my dads TL, code didnt go away. went to replace the other part with the exposed screws and they were going to strip, so my brother did it at work. after replacing both the vent and the solenoid, the code went away.

so if the solenoid is working, then its the vent or the canister. or there is the off chance its the ECU, but thats the last step in the replacement line.

Thanks
Found another post about clearing codes after I posted.
Going to try and pull fuse number 13 first and see if that clears the codes.
