I saw a lot of the stuff that came in firsthand. Here's a few that I specifically remember:
1. A 2002 QX4, fully optioned, with about 120K on the clock
2. A 2000 Grand Cherokee limited, mint, with 66K
3. A mid-80's Dodge short bed pickup, with lime green flames, a 318, and custom interior. It was actually pretty sharp!
4. A mint condition 1986 Celica
Most of the vehicles were garden variety Exploders and domestic compacts. The whole damn thing was an abomination IMO. A lot of those cars had a LOT of miles left on them. But seeing things from the standpoint of the automotive employee, the thing that took out a lot of the older vehicles was the rise in the price of scrap metal. There was a wrecking yard around here that had stuff dating back to the 1940's in the yard that had been in that yard since the mid '60s. Every one of them crushed for metal value.
Hence, the era of the $200 car ended at the same time. I have to say that with cash for clunkers, I didn't see one Honda in the bunch, out of about 100 cars I saw come in.
