i think its illegal to tamper with cat. no matter what in cali........i think....
it only be replaced when damaged.....
someone should know better than me....so.....
If it's over 5 years old, then you can replace it regardless of condition. That is basically when cali considers it to "on it's way out" or however you want to phrase it. Obviously you can replace it before then yourself but if you take it to an exhaust shop, they may not do it for you. Secondly, passing smog is fine but visual is as important so keep that in mind if it's not carb legal (basically not an oe replacement). Most won't check, but if you got alot of mods, they love to fail you on the visual.
