Just cleaned my throttle body. I had my dealer clean it at 40K b/c my pedal was sticking first thing on cold mornings. It was pretty nasty at 68K (see pic), so I'm wondering how good of a job they did. I'll see if I did a good job the next morning I start the car. Probably wishful thinking, but the car felt a little more responsive when I took it for a drive. It didn't shove me back in my seat, but it felt like the car jumped a little better with a lighter touch of the pedal. The job is pretty straightforward, but here are a few lessons learned:
-Have a new gasket and a good scraper ready. This would have been a quick job if I didn't have to scrape the old gasket off of both surfaces.
It was no fun doing this with the TB still in the engine bay. If I do this again I might consider completely removing the TB.
-The TB may not come loose after you remove the bolts. I tapped it with a rubber mallet and then tapped it harder - nothing. I then put the handle of a screwdriver on one of the exposed corners of the TB and hit it (the screwdriver) with a hammer.
-The accel and cruise cables were a little tricky to get on/off. Just turn them down enough to get slack in the cables and the slide the end connector through each slot/opening.
