i know these are very common in going bad on 6th gens, my front and rear defrost button bulbs were extremely dim and i could barely tell if i actually had the defrost on considering the bulbs were so dim so i proceeded to replace them with new bulbs. the process was simple and took me about 10 minutes but then after i replaced the bulbs before i re-installed the climate control i tested out the bulbs and the defrost bulbs work exactly the same they are extremely dim even with the new bulbs.... what could i have done wrong? (test was done with all connectors plugged into climate control and ignition on obviously)

Might be a connection problem on the circuit board?

I know my clock lightbulb was messing up because the copper leads were corroding heavily...so take a look around where the lightbulbs plug in to see if you can see anything..

just a suggestion, heh

Each bulb in the back of the climate control panel illuminates multiple buttons, so your front/rear defrost buttons shouldn't be the only dim buttons. Are any others besides the front/rear defrost dimly lit? What about the orange indicator light above these buttons, do they illuminate brightly with the new bulbs?

The buttons themselves are not dim but the orange indicator lights over the defrost buttons ARE what is dim even with the new bulbs. those are the only 2 buttons in which the indicator (in this case orange for defrost) does not work.

Probably something internal to the console, you're probably best off replacing the controls if it really matters that much.

it does matter that much because when i put the defrost on i have to look up to the windshield and wait to see if its actually on or not because i dont know threw looking at the button. its not the end of the world but i had no idea how inconvenient it was to have these tiny bulb(s) out until it actually happened to me with this car. i noticed A LOT of small bulbs go pretty easy on 6th gens... my cruise control button does not light up either which is a whole nother issue. :eekwtf:

Have you replaced the bulb on the cruise button yet?

I think you're either going to have to tear open the heater control module or replace it. There are no diagnostics or diagrams available for the internals.

i dont know how to change the bulb for the cruise control button i havent checked it out yet it looks like its a little tougher than the climate control bulbs but that hopefully after i change that one it'll work just fine.
